SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of the Presidency, Relations with Parliament and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, chaired this Tuesday the meeting of the Interministerial Commission for the execution of the Special Plan for the Reconstruction of La Palma.
The meeting was attended by the First Vice President of the Government and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, as well as the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska; the Minister of Finance and Public Administration, María Jesús Montero; the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez; the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto; the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas; the Minister of Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodríguez and the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, as well as the Undersecretary for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Miguel González Suela, and the Special Commissioner for the Reconstruction of the island of La Palma, Hector Izquierdo.
During the preparatory meeting of the Joint Commission to be held next Monday in La Palma, the work and new measures adopted by the Government to continue advancing in the reconstruction were analyzed.
The Minister of the Presidency will travel to the island this Sunday on a visit to mark the first anniversary of the beginning of the eruption, during which he will participate in an act of homage to the scientific community and will chair the Mixed Commission together with the President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, which will also be attended by other members of the Government of Spain, the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo de La Palma.
The Council of Ministers has also approved this Tuesday a Royal Decree for the direct granting to the Canary Islands of a subsidy of 6.5 million euros to finance the acquisition of basic necessities, destined for 609 families affected by the eruption of the volcano.
This measure is one more example of the Executive’s commitment, which continues to work on reconstruction with the aim of palm and palm trees recovering normality in their lives as soon as possible, collects a note from the Government.
