SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 26th February (EUROPA PRESS) –
An alert situation for strong winds has been declared by the Government of the Canary Islands, under the General Directorate of Emergencies, in El Hierro, La Gomera, as well as in the municipalities of El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane (La Palma) starting from 9:00 p.m. today, Monday 26th February.
This decision has been taken based on the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other relevant sources, and in accordance with the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
The forecast indicates a northeasterly trade wind of moderate to strong intensity, with an average variable speed ranging from 30 to 50 km/h, and with potential maximum gusts that may exceed 90 km/h. The areas most likely to experience the strongest gusts are the elevated regions to the west and southwest of El Hierro, in the elevated areas to the west and south of La Gomera, as well as in the peaks of La Palma.
