From Childhood dream to reality: Corina Mrazek becomes the Carnival Queen of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2024 festivities, representing El Mundo, designed by Santi Castro and sponsored by the Añaza Carrefour Shopping Center. She charmed the jury and the audience to claim her well-deserved title. Despite still processing the whirlwind of events, 22-year-old Corina, from Los Realejos, exudes joy and satisfaction for wholeheartedly presenting her costume at the Fairgrounds.
-How do you feel the day after being crowned as the new Carnival Queen?
“It’s still sinking in because everything happened so quickly, but I’m incredibly happy and fulfilled. We put in a lot of hard work and finally seeing the result brings immense satisfaction. Performing on stage, the entire team was overjoyed. The aftermath of winning has been incredible.”
-Was the preparation for the fantasy a demanding journey until the gala night?
“The last week was intense, with little sleep and a lot of fatigue. I wanted to be with the entire Santi Castro team until the last moment. However, it has all been worthwhile. We worked together towards a common goal, and I felt deeply cared for and supported by them. The love and support from the team, regardless of the outcome, has left me with many cherished memories. Surrounding yourself with exceptional people makes everything flow.”
-Not only were you a contestant, but you also contributed to creating the costume you wore. How was the experience?
“I insisted on participating from the start in the workshop because it was integral to the overall experience; otherwise, everything else would have felt incomplete. We started with a basic model and spent months selecting pieces, fittings, decorations, and colours. The transformation from the prototype to the final version was staggering. Personally, being part of the fantasy’s realization made it feel more personal, like a second skin. Spending so much time in its preparation and assembly has made it a part of me.”
-Did you ever imagine yourself as the Carnival Queen?
“I didn’t anticipate winning, given the exceptionally high calibre of this year’s participants. Seeing the other costumes at the Fairgrounds was awe-inspiring, leaving us all uncertain about the outcome. When my name was announced, it was pure joy. At that moment, I thought about the entire team and their happiness, as they had put in countless hours to create the fantasy I had the privilege to present.”
-Did you face any challenges wearing such a voluminous costume on stage?
“I didn’t encounter any issues, and Santi Castro was always by my side, attentive to any discomfort or hindrance posed by the costume. His support was crucial, and thankfully, I didn’t face any major complications.
-The outfit you wore, titled ‘El Mundo’, contrasts with your role as the current Miss World Spain. What lies ahead for Corina’s world?
“Now, my world revolves around enjoying the Carnival and celebrating on the streets. I will continue with my life and my work as a cabin crew member at Binter, which is my passion. Additionally, I am preparing for the upcoming Miss World International pageant scheduled for the end of the month.”
-What does Carnival represent for the new Queen?
“Carnival is a sensation. It embodies the freedom of expression, being true to oneself, and feeling liberated. Now, as Queen, it also entails a sense of responsibility. I must continue to ignite our most beloved tradition, our essence.”
-Have your duties as the Carnival Queen been outlined to you?
“I’m still processing everything, although I’ve been informed of certain events I have to attend, apart from presiding over the Parade and the Arena. I am ready to fulfil the Queen’s entire agenda; participation in such events requires understanding the associated responsibilities, and I am prepared for it.”
