VALVERDE (EL HIERRO), Jan. 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Sources from Maritime Rescue have informed Europa Press that three small boats have arrived on the island of El Hierro in the past few hours with a total of 177 migrants and two fatalities. This Friday, four boats carrying a total of 228 people reached the port of La Restinga.
One of the small boats, carrying two deceased individuals, had 66 people on board and was escorted to the port by a Civil Guard patrol boat after being spotted less than a mile south of the island. Another boat, carrying 56 people, was also detected in the same area.
Furthermore, the ‘Río Segura’ patrol boat accompanied another small boat with 54 occupants – 55 men and one woman – which had been sighted one mile from La Restinga by the Salvamar Adhara.
Apart from these four small boats, two others arrived on the island of Tenerife on Friday, specifically at Playa San Juan (Guía de Isora) and Los Cristianos, carrying 79 people.
