If you were planning to spend time at the Weyler Square during the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnivals, it will be nearly impossible this year. Due to the ongoing construction of the central fountain, there will be extensive fencing around the area, unlike previous years when the gardens were simply enclosed as a safety measure.
This is how Weyler Square appeared today, with barriers making it inaccessible to the public. This area was typically a meeting point for many people from different parts of the island before a night of festivities.
The street parties in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will commence on Friday, February 9, following the announcement parade, scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m. from Plaza de la República Dominicana. The symbolic burial of the sardine will take place on Wednesday, February 14, coinciding with Valentine’s Day, and the Piñata festivities will follow on the weekend.
