Yesterday, the park of García Sanabria in the capital city was abuzz with people strolling through its pathways, not missing a single detail of the burst of colours and fragrances presented by the 72 stalls at the XLVII edition of the Regional Flower Exhibition, Plants, and Traditional Canarian Crafts. This exhibition, a must-visit event for the locals, will adorn the heart of Santa Cruz until next Sunday, as part of the events organised for the May Festival.
The park harmoniously blends history and tradition in an exhibition where, apart from commemorating the 530th anniversary of the city’s foundation, there is an abundance of floral scents, artisan heritage, gastronomic delights, and the cheerfulness of Los Gorgoritos, who, in their charming theatre by the Flower Clock, evoke memories for parents and create new ones for their children.
The Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, accompanied by the President of the regional government, Fernando Clavijo; the President of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila; the Councillor for Festivals, Javier Caraballero; and the Councillor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, were responsible for inaugurating the exhibition, which will remain open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
“Here we find not only flowers, plants, gastronomy, folklore, or competitions, but also literature through the Book Fair, along with our Gorgoritos, an inseparable part of our festivities and, without a doubt, our most cherished memories,” stated the Councillor.
On his part, Clavijo emphasised that “the co-capital of the Archipelago is currently in the spotlight for residents, local visitors, and tourists alike.”
