a show of 200 drones and lights will cover the sky with allegorical figures of Christmas on December 23 at 8:30 p.m. in the Estevez Sculptor Bridge. That will be one of the highlights of Christmas in The Orotava.
The ‘Drones for Christmas’ show is one of the main novelties of the Villa’s Christmas programming, which incorporates others such as a special New Year’s Eve for the little ones, which will be held on the morning of December 31 in Plaza Franchi Alfaro; a ‘scratch and win’ to encourage purchases in the town, with direct discounts on the purchase invoice in the municipality’s establishments; or the concerts set during Christmas in Argentina and Cuba that will take place on December 10 and 16, respectively, outside the San Agustín church.
The agenda, which will take place for a month and a half, includes some 120 recreational, cultural and religious events, aimed at all audiences and ages. More than thirty take place in different neighborhoods. It begins tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. with the lighting ceremony and the inauguration of the Nativity Scene on the Town Hall beach and will feature theatrical and musical performances, dance groups and the special participation of the Canarian singer Miriam Reyes.

This was announced yesterday by the mayor, Francisco Linares, who was accompanied by the councilors of Festivals and Commerce, Alexis Pacheco and Deisy Ramos, respectively, and the president of the Taoro Bethlehem Association, Esteban García Morales.
The president assured that on these dates more than 200,000 people are expected to visit the Villa “because it is quite an attraction at Christmas, the ideal place to walk, shop, enjoy a good atmosphere, gastronomy, heritage local, and the most important nativity scene route in the Canary Islands, which this year has 25 births distributed throughout the municipality.
Pacheco highlighted the second edition of ‘La Orotava at Christmas’, after the great success of last year, with live musical performances and the participation of the Municipal School of Music and Dance, and announced that they are already working with Their Majesties the Three Wise Men to organize the great parade on January 5.
Ramos, for his part, pointed out that the Christmas campaign is also aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of local commerce. In this sense, he highlighted the Christmas Fair that begins this Friday and will be until December 10 in the Plaza de la Constitución with 10 booths where you can find Christmas items, decoration elements, gastronomic products and nativity scenes. And from December 15 to January 5, in this same space, you can enjoy the Gift and Crafts Fair. Both fairs are open from Monday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will only close on December 25 and January 1.
