Professionals from the Drugs and Organized Crime Unit (Udyco) of the National Police of Santa Cruz Tenerife have managed to intervene record amount of cocaine in an investigation initiated, developed and concluded entirely in Tenerife. Nothing less than more than a ton of cocaine was intervened inside a home in the municipality of Candelaria last week. The intervention was coordinated by the Specialized Anti-Drug Section of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Prosecutor’s Office.whose delegate prosecutor is Sebastián Zapata.
According to the sources consulted, this amount of said narcotic substance has a market value of 35 million euros. Said specialized group of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade carried out an operation based on monitoring and surveillance of those allegedly involved and on the analysis of information. This work at street level produced an effective result and allowed the arrest of a total of nine people.
Seven of the accused They were arrested on the island of Tenerife, while the other two were arrested in the province of Seville.
Provisional prison
After being placed at the disposal of the Investigative Court handling the matter, all those arrested were placed in provisional detention, communicated and without bail pending the holding of the trial for a drug trafficking crime with a substance that causes serious damage to health.
One of the main focuses of the operation was at a home located in the center of Barranco Hondo, in the municipality of Candelaria. On Wednesday, October 25, a extensive device of plainclothes agents from the Drugs and Organized Crime Unit in camouflaged cars and uniformed police from the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) traveled to a house on Concejal Crisanto Marrero Street.
With a court order to enter and search, the National Police investigators entered the property in the afternoon and searched it thoroughly, using maces and other tools, to locate possible hiding places of the narcotic substance.
The agents found more than a thousand kilos of cocaine in total. One of the hypotheses of the members of Udyco is that the aforementioned home was used as a warehouse for the aforementioned illicit merchandise. Two men were arrested in said home.

The extensive police operation was witnessed by some residents of the area, who stayed surprised to see uniformed officers with long weapons and balaclava outside the registered house.
In addition, citizens residing in the Los Llanos area, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, also witnessed the arrest of individuals linked to the same organized group after a chase from the Southern Highway (TF-1).
Several camouflaged cars of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade followed and They intercepted the car in which the accused were traveling at the height of the El Tanque cultural space, on Adán Martín Menis street in the Tenerife capital.
The individuals were then transferred to the police station cells of the Southern District of the National Police in Santa Cruz, on Tres de Mayo Avenue. And, from that moment, the investigation of the proceedings was carried out, which were made available to the Court in charge of the matter. One of the men arrested in the operation is of Italian nationality, according to one of the sources consulted.
