Valle San Lorenzo is the first town to benefit from the plan to optimize the cleaning of public spaces in the municipality. The Arona City Council, through the Department of Public Services and the company awarded the service, Valoriza, have begun to develop cleaning spree with interventions in the busiest streets and squares of each urban center of the municipality.
Yesterday the operation was launched in Valle San Lorenzo and during the following weeks it will be activated in the towns of Los Cristianos, Cabo Blanco, El Fraile, Las Galletas and Costa del Silencio. The cleaning spree program will continue along Playa de The AmericasLa Camella, the urban area of, Las Rosas, La Estrella, Guargacho, Parque de la Reina, Buzanada, Túnez, Vento, Las Casas, Palm-Mar, La Florida, Malpaso and Chayofa.
The mayor of Arona, Fátima Lemes, highlighted that “We are starting a crash plan” applying intensive cleaning actions that will reach “all the neighborhoods and centers of the municipality.” The Aronera councilor highlights that the plan that has been in place since yesterday “is only the beginning of the actions, because we are going to continue throughout the year and we want these cleaning routines to become something habitual, to improve our streets and our neighborhoods”.
The operation begins 48 hours before the start of the cleaning work, with the placement of parking prohibition signs in the areas where the zafarrancho will take place. The procedure includes weed clearing, mechanized and manual sweeping, cleaning with water, cleaning of containers (internal and external), collection of belongings, cleaning of scuppers (with the collaboration of the Canaragua company) and, finally, the cleaning of the playgrounds.
The first deputy mayor, Clari Pérez, stressed that “these riots begin today (this Wednesday) and will continue over time. It is not a specific action, but our goal is for it to be a reinforcement for the cleaning that is carried out every day». The councilor also responsible for the areas of Environment, Sustainability and Public Services sought “the help of the neighbors, so that the workers can carry out their work effectively.”
The cleaning spree includes human and material resources. It is made up of ten workers – six sweeping workers, including one with a blower and another with a brush cutter; a specialist laborer with a sweeper, two drivers and a foreman, a road washer, a flatbed truck with a crane, as well as an inspection vehicle.
