An exceptional sandwich originating from Tenerife acclaimed as “the best in the world” is now being distributed across Spain. Gadim Guey managed to win a sandwich competition last November with only three ingredients: chicken shoulder, semi-cured cheese, and smoked paprika.
This was a competition organised by Delikia vending company that operates vending machines in a large part of the country but has yet to reach the Canary Islands.
Despite this, the ex student of IES San Marcos decided to present his sandwich creation… and it was so well-liked that the young man ended up pocketing 6,000 Euros for being chosen as the best.
Additionally, as part of the prize, his creation, along with the second and third-place sandwiches, have been incorporated into Delikia vending machines. Therefore, alongside the announcement of a new edition of the competition, all three sandwiches are now available at Delikia.
The other two sandwich options are one with pastrami accompanied by tomato sauce and dried tomato, created by Joel Basal; and another featuring roast beef with smoked sriracha mayo cheese, by Ariel Munguía
Supporting a Cause
10% of the sales revenue from these sandwiches will be donated to the Tierra de Hombres Foundation. Delikia aims to exceed the amount raised in the previous edition and continue its support for the Journey to Life programme.
The Tierra de Hombres Foundation organises the transfer of minors with serious illnesses from families in countries in Africa to Spain for medical treatment, as they lack adequate healthcare facilities and equipment in their home countries.
With over 30 years in operation, Delikia is the leading national vending services provider with 100% Spanish ownership. It generates an annual revenue of 52 million Euros and employs a staff of over 360 individuals. The company operates more than 12,100 vending machines located across the country in various settings such as factories, offices, hospitals, and shopping centres, with nearly half being public vending machines.
The company has its own workshops in Vigo and Madrid, and holds certifications for quality standards, food safety, environmental practices, and occupational health and safety, including ISO 22000, 9001, 14001, and 45001.
