The preliminary report of the autopsy carried out on the body of the woman found during Saturday afternoon in waters near the municipality of Arico confirmed that the citizen suffered a violent death caused by one or several people.
These are the results of the forensic test carried out at the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife during Sunday morning.
Everything indicates that the work of the investigators from the Crimes against Persons Unit of the Organic Unit of Judicial Police (UOPJ) of the Civil Guard will be complex, given the circumstances in which the body was found in the sea in the southeast of Tenerife.
Until Monday afternoon, the agents handling the case did not know the identity of the murdered woman, which is considered a fundamental aspect according to the consulted individuals.
Part of the remains were sent to the National Institute of Toxicology and Forensic Sciences of Canary Islands, where it will be determined if the victim consumed any type of toxic or hallucinogenic substance before losing their life.
It is worth noting that on Saturday afternoon, part of a person’s body was found floating off the coast near La Jaca and La Listada.
According to the initial information, a torso with the head was found, but it was missing the legs and hands.
Furthermore, a very striking detail is that the woman’s head and face were completely covered with a tied yellow bag. From that moment, all signs pointed to a case of homicide or murder.
Agents from the Criminalistics Laboratory of the Civil Guard also travelled to the aforementioned location in Arico, where they carried out a photographic report and searched for possible relevant evidence in the remains.
Additionally, a forensic doctor went to La Jaca and La Listada, and after following the protocol procedures in these cases, the body was removed.
