A second boat rescued near Tenerife with 51 people on board, seven of them children

A second cayuco with 51 people on board, including a woman and seven children, has arrived at the port of Los Cristianos, in the south of Tenerife, in the last few hours, sources from Maritime Rescue told Efe. Five occupants of the canoe have been evacuated to a health center with mild pathologies, detailed sources from 112.

It was the crew of a fishing boat, the ‘Santa Rita’, who alerted the Tenerife Port Authority when they sighted the cayuco about two miles from the port of Los Cristianos. A Salvamento boat, the Salvamar Alpheratz, was there to meet him, which helped transport him to the port.

Hours earlier, around five in the morning, another cayuco reached the same destination by its own means with 14 people on boardone of which had to be transferred to a hospital with hypothermia.
