The group of artisans of the Island of Tenerife has received with “satisfaction” the direct and extraordinary help of the Cabildo for the year 2021 that they have received two days before the end of 2021. They value it from the sector because “it is something very unusual” and because “it is a huge relief for an activity as punished as ours since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. The insular institution has paid a total of 198,000 euros to 66 professionals from Tenerife who have the card accrediting such condition. The island councilor for Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, highlights that this year the amount of the subsidy has been multiplied by three to meet the needs and deficiencies.
The objective of the subsidy line is to alleviate the effects derived from the suspension of activities and the reduction of capacity as a consequence of the protection measures against Covid-19. The counselor Baso explains that this is the second annual call for aid line, launched in 2020 by the Cabildo de Tenerife to “give a break to one of the activities most punished by the restrictions imposed and help the artisans to have liquidity to pay to meet their tax obligations.
Carmen Luz Baso highlights that in 2021 the amount of aid has tripled, from 1,000 to 3,000 euros per person. “In addition, payment terms have been speeded up in order to respond as quickly as possible to the cash needs of many professionals in the sector,” adds the counselor.
AND
Guarantee of viability.
These direct grants are part of the set of initiatives with which the Insular Corporation seeks to guarantee the viability and maintenance of the artisanal sector, as an economic activity whose development has a significant socio-cultural impact, and which includes the organization of events and development of new promotion and sales tools with which it is intended to provide alternatives to the sector to market its products.
AND
The value of the fairs.
The counselor recalls that from last Sunday, January 2, and until tomorrow night, Wednesday, the 5th, Three Kings Eve, two craft fairs will be open on the island. One in the Plaza del Príncipe in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and another in the Plaza del Adelantado in La Laguna, to help boost sales in the sector.

Bet ‘online’.
In addition, the Cabildo has made a commitment to boost online sales through Digitalizarte, an electronic commerce platform created in 2020 and focused on the sale and promotion of artisan products from the Island of Tenerife, thanks to the collaboration between Caja Siete and the Insular Handicraft Company (IFTSA). Thus, through the platform https://www.seseocanarias.com, people who so wish will be able to purchase products related to about twenty artisan trades and they will be sent to any corner of the Canary Islands for free.
