The candidate for re-election as president of the Cabildo de Tenerifethe socialist Peter Martinannounces an Insular Motorhome Plan with six areas to park and spend the night, a capacity of 350 vehicles and located in as many municipalities that show interest in it: Granadilla de Abona, Arico, Los Silos, Arona, Icod de Los Vinos and La Laguna. The cost of construction and provision of these spaces is estimated at 10 million euros.
Only the area of Icod de los Vinos will be in the middle, the location of the remaining five will be the coast. They will have green areas, electric recharging points, shaded areas on the plots, wastewater evacuation points (gray and black water), common spaces and services (picnic areas, leisure spaces, etc.), toilets and changing rooms.
Pedro Martín understands that the demand for this type of family tourism is increasing and requires answers. «At the beginning of the mandate there was no previous work that analyzed the situation of the camping and motorhome activity in Tenerife»but during the last year a detailed study of the areas with the greatest use on the territory has been provided to the municipalities, in addition to land alternatives for the implantation
of parking areas and caravan overnight stays.
The objective is to establish agreements with the town halls for the transfer of the land that allows undertaking the conditioning works in order to provide these areas with all the services.
In parallel, the candidate of PSOE to the Presidency of the Cabildo announces that work has been done on the preparation of an insular ordinance to regulate camping activities on the Island that, once completed, it will be made available to all municipalities so that they can adopt it in their own territories as a formula to organize and regulate this type of settlement.
