SAN SEBASTIÁN DE LA GOMERA, March 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de La Gomera will reinforce its lines of cooperation with the primary sector with the provision of 500,000 euros to articulate an aid mechanism that will minimize the impact on the increase in the prices of fodder, the cost of which has been affected by the current inflationary crisis
This was stated by the president, Casimiro Curbelo, during a meeting with representatives of the Agricultores de La Gomera Cooperative Society, in which he was accompanied by the mayor of San Sebastián, Adasat Reyes, and the island councilor for Rural Development, Angélica Padilla.
In this way, he specified that this measure will be complemented with other actions aimed at satisfying the demands of the sector, whose resources for direct aid amounted to 540,000 euros last year.
“We intensify the commitment from the public sphere to favor the development of the primary sector, which is a key element in the revitalization of the economy of La Gomera,” added Curbelo, before detailing that for this year the resources for agricultural cooperatives will grow, up to 15,000 euros per association. “We understand that they play an important role, because they are organizations that work to defend the sector.”
In the case of Agricultores de La Gomera Cooperative Society, he announced that they will cooperate with the financing of a cold room and its installation.
“This is -he said- a request made by the partners and that we value satisfactorily because they need this instrument to be able to increase the work capacity they now have”.
For his part, the mayor of San Sebastián de La Gomera, Adasat Reyes, valued the commitment of the city council to the work carried out by the cooperative, in addition to making “all the municipal tools” available to the members to serve to your demands.
In this same sense, he insisted on mutual collaboration between administrations to continue promoting the primary sector and for it to be an active part of the municipal economy, while congratulating the current board of directors for achieving the objectives set, “despite the difficult times that we’ve been through in recent years.”
