garachico has been chosen as the most beautiful town in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerifeone of the two prettiest of Canary Islands Y one of the 50 most beautiful villages in all of Spain. On this occasion they have been more than 5,000 readers of the travel and photography portal Travel Photo Magazine those who have recognized the beauty and photogenicity of this corner of the lower island.

The mayor of Garachico, Jose Heriberto Gonzalez (CC)shared today the joy for this new recognition, which comes almost two years after the town was integrated into the Association of the Most Beautiful Towns in Spainwhich currently has 105 associated locations and shortly it will incorporate six more. “It is new pleasant news,” celebrated the president, after the aforementioned website “sent a communication to the City Council where it says that, after a survey that they have carried out among their readers, they have selected and chosen to the most beautiful town of less than 5,000 inhabitants in each province of Spain. And in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the chosen one has been ours ».

The election focused only on municipalities with less than 5,000 inhabitants

In González’s opinion, it is “one more important promotion and another good news to close the year.” Garachico received this recognition together with Tejeda, by the province of Las Palmasand both towns share this honor with 50 other towns such as Combarro (Pontevedra), Comillas (Cantabria), Ribadavia (Orense), Mundaka (Vizcaya), Alcalá del Júcar (Albacete), Oropesa (Toledo), Grazalema (Cádiz) or Vélez White (Almeria).

Travel Photo Magazine He stresses that “the choice has not been easy, since choosing a town as the most beautiful in a province is, in reality, a task subjected to the greatest of subjectivities. Due to this difficulty, it took us five months to get 5,000 readers to agree to choose a town of less than 5,000 inhabitants as the most beautiful in each province and, therefore, as the most beautiful towns in Spain ». Destinations that this portal recommends to “travel in 2023”.
