SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 4 (EUROPE PRESS) –
A 36-year-old woman has given birth to a baby this Tuesday morning aboard an ambulance on the way to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands (HUC) at the height of the municipality of La Orotava.
The events took place around 7:10 a.m. when the doctors from the SUC, present at the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands, received a notice from a medicalized ambulance informing that it was carrying out the transfer of a pregnant woman at term from the Hospital del Norte to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands when, near La Orotava, the pregnant woman went into labor.
At that moment, the ambulance decided to move to the shoulder of the TF-5 motorway to attend to her.
The delivery was successfully assisted by the ambulance crew and both the baby, a girl, and the mother were in good condition and were taken to the hospital where they were admitted.
Members of the Civil Guard traveled to the place, secured the area where the health resource was stopped and later escorted him to the hospital emergency service to speed up arrival at the health center and avoid traffic delays.
