SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 23. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife and the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid (CEAR) will collaborate in planning the support to be provided to displaced people from Ukraine who are currently on the island, in order to guarantee their well-being and integration into Tenerife society.
For this purpose, the Minister of Social Action, Marián Franquet, and the CEO of Citizen Participation, Nauzet Gugliotta, held a meeting these days with the territorial coordinator of CEAR in the Canary Islands, Juan Carlos Lorenzo, and the person in charge of the first reception in the Canary Islands Amanda Alonso.
Franquet explained in a note that the objective of the Cabildo de Tenerife is “to respond to the long-term needs that displaced people from Ukraine will have to face, once their basic care is covered, and that are related to the provision of a series of services to break the language barrier, receive psychological support or process access to various services that allow them to normalize, as much as possible, their new life on the island”.
To this end, the insular area of Social Action has strengthened contacts with CEAR and the Red Cross, the two associations involved in caring for displaced people in this country, with whom regular meetings have been held since the beginning of the conflict “in order to find out first-hand on what and how to help,” added Franquet, who announced that a new meeting with the Red Cross is scheduled for next week.
The holding of these meetings is part of the round of meetings that the Cabildo has held with administrations and associations to coordinate the actions with which to collaborate, within its powers, to protect and provide adequate care to refugees from Ukraine .
