Tenerife will host from December 1 to 5 the ‘FVW’ congress, the most relevant annual meeting of the German tourism industry, in which Turismo de Tenerife collaborates, and which will bring together about fifty experts from the sector and German travel agents , who will hold working sessions with companies in the island’s tourism sector.
The island director of Tourism of the Cabildo, Laura Castro, points out that this meeting in which she has been working for months will allow to “improve” the positioning of the island “in a market that is so prominent for Tenerife as is the German one.”
Castro indicates in a note that “the German market is the third most important for Tenerife, only behind the Spanish and the British, in the first nine months of 2021, with figures highly conditioned by the impact of the pandemic in the sector during this During the year, almost 100,000 tourists of that nationality stayed on the island. “
For his part, the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Pérez, points out that through this meeting he wants to publicize the luxury accommodation offer, as well as the wealth and natural values of the destination and its firm commitment to sustainability, “something to which the German traveler is very sensitive.”
Pérez adds that in the same way, the objective with the celebration of this congress is to promote the increase of air connectivity with Germany, within which it seeks to increase the number of seats in business class.
The FVW congress has been held for more than 20 years, and in addition to bringing together the main German tour operators, from travel agents to representatives of the destination authorities and tourism associations, it also has the presence of specialists in products from the main tour operators in that country.
The event combines work sessions with debates and meetings in which new strategies and visions are established on how to effectively establish and promote the destination in the German market, for which visits and excursions are also organized.
Within the program coordinated by Turismo de Tenerife, a professional meeting will be held on December 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Hotel Botánico in Puerto de la Cruz.
Later, attendees will get to know the gastronomy and wines of Tenerife in a visit to Bodegas Monje.
A visit to Loro Parque, Teide National Park for stargazing and a whale watching excursion are also included in the schedule established for the following days, among other activities.
