Labour absenteeism in the Canary Islands has reached alarming proportions, with 8.1% of employees absent from their roles. This translates to an annual financial burden of 2.4 billion euros for businesses and 2.5 billion euros for social security. In light of this issue, the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE) in Tenerife has declared the launch of an anonymous reporting portal to uncover potential fraudulent sick leave, as stated in their announcement regarding the Canary Islands.
