The Organizing Committee of the XV Autonomous Congress of the Popular Party from Canary Islands, once the meeting that has been held on Thursday afternoon and after verifying compliance with the requirements established in the Framework Regulations for Congresses and in the Regulations of the XV Congress for the pre-candidacy of Manuel Domínguez to the Autonomous Presidency, has reported that Domínguez he has been proclaimed the only candidate to preside over the PP of the Canary Islands.
Today, Thursday, at 7:00 p.m., the deadline for submission ended, having presented a single candidatea, that of Manuel Domínguez, accompanied by 3,339 endorsements.
As of next Sunday, December 12, the electoral campaign begins, which will end at 4:00 p.m. on December 21. The registration period for participants and delegates will end on Friday, December 17, and the voting assemblies will be held on the 22nd.
The XV Congress of the PP of the Canary Islands, which will be held on January 22 and 23 in Tenerife Under the slogan ‘Prepared for change’, it will have 590 delegates, of which 472 will be elected and 118 born. By islands, Gran Canaria will have 160 delegates plus two from New Generations (NNGG), Tenerife with 138 plus two from NNGG, Fuerteventura with 58 plus one from NNGG, La Palma with 37 plus one from NNGG and Lanzarote with 30 plus one corresponding to NNGG; both La Gomera and El Hierro will provide 20 delegates and one NNGG representative for each island. During the congress, the presentation “Treatment for a dying economy” will be held, which will be presented by Gustavo González de Vera and Carlos Ester Sánchez.
Biography
Manuel Domínguez González (Caracas, Venezuela, January 25, 1974). President of the PP of Tenerife, from July 21, 2012 to the present, mayor of Los Realejos, since June 2007, and deputy for Tenerife in the regional Chamber.
In the municipal elections of 2003 he acceded for the first time as councilor to the Los Realejos City Council, directing the Treasury area. In 2007 he revalidates his act but remains in opposition. In July 2009 he acceded to Las Cortes as a deputy for Tenerife.
After the holding of the municipal elections of 2011, in which he obtained an absolute majority in the municipal corporation, on June 11 he was elected mayor of Los Realejos, being re-elected four years later in the municipal elections of 2015, expanding the number of councilors of his group up to a total of 14. In the municipal elections of 2019 he obtained 15 councilors, one more than in the previous term.
In 2015 he was head of the list to the Cabildo de Tenerife and appointed Insular Councilor, combining this work with the Mayor’s Office.
In the regional and local elections of 2019 he was head of the list to the Canary Islands Parliament for Tenerife, obtaining the act of deputy, being appointed by his training companions president of the Popular parliamentary group.
Manuel Domínguez graduated from the Escuela Superior de Management with a degree in Business Administration and Management specializing in Marketing. He is married and has three children.
