Yeah El Médano It usually becomes a hive of people on Sundays, yesterday it was almost impossible to find a parking space or a piece of beach to place your towel. And this has been happening during the 16 editions that the event has been held. Barquera Pilgrimagethe most massive event within the festivities in honor of the patron saint of this center of Granadilla, Our Lady of the Mercedes of Red.

A large audience responded and attended the meeting on the central beach of the populous coastal center of Granadilla de Abona to participate in the celebration, which began after the traditional midday mass was celebrated, with the offering included for the most needy families in the municipality. The celebration was joined, as always, by the dancers from El Pinar (El Hierro) and various folk groups.

At the end, the boat and a walk through the bay of the coastal neighborhood took place, with thousands of people coming from all over the municipality and Tenerife, dressed strictly in white, and many carrying small boats full of food and drinks.

The Sunday event continued during the afternoon with a lively festival, entertained by the Kimbara group and the Wamampy, Malibú Band and Tropin orchestras. On Saturday the procession and fireworks were launched from the small pier of El Médano.
