Emergency services rescued two crew members from a vessel that ran aground on Roque Bermejo, off the coast of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on Wednesday, as reported by the Coordinating Centre for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) 112.
The rescue teams were alerted at 13:20 hours after receiving a report that a vessel near the coast with two people on board had run aground and needed assistance.
The 112 service promptly activated the necessary emergency resources, including the Helimer maritime rescue helicopter, which located the vessel and rescued one of the crew members, a 70-year-old man who was injured.
He was evacuated to Tenerife North Airport, where an ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service was waiting to assist him and take him to the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, where he was admitted with a moderate leg injury.
In addition, the Civil Guard, which arrived with a boat, conducted the rescue of the other crew member, who was uninjured, and transported him to the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Agents from the National Police and Local Police also participated in the support efforts.
