Tenerife is set for a brief respite from the heat this Wednesday, although temperatures will remain high in some areas of the island, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

The day will start with light calima, with cloudy intervals in the north and wind gradually easing, though it may still be strong in exposed locations. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures are expected to range from 21°C to 29°C.

Across the Canary Islands, Aemet forecasts a slight drop in temperatures and reduced wind. However, some regions, particularly mid-elevations in Gran Canaria, could still see temperatures exceed 34°C, with 30°C possible in other mountainous areas, as well as Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. La Gomera will maintain a yellow weather warning for wind until 11:00.

In coastal waters, winds from the northeast will reach 5 or 6 in strength, with potential peaks of 7 near mountainous areas. Strong waves are expected, building to rough seas later, with swells from the north producing waves of 1 to 2 metres.

In the north of Tenerife, below approximately 500 metres at the start of the day and about 900 metres by evening, clouds will be present, particularly in the early hours, with clearer skies during the day. Other parts of the island will be mostly clear or sunny.

The light calima will fade, and temperatures may drop slightly to moderately. In mid-elevation areas of the southeast, south, and west, temperatures could still exceed 30°C. The alisio wind will be moderate but strong in the southeast and northwest during the first part of the day, with possible very strong gusts in the southern Anaga region later.

Expected temperatures include:

– Santa Cruz de Tenerife: 21°C to 29°C

In La Gomera, conditions mirror those in Tenerife, with slightly cooler temperatures in the north and east, which may drop to about 22°C to 28°C in San Sebastián.

For La Palma, expect similar cloud patterns, with light calima dissipating. Daily highs could also reach around 30°C in certain areas.

Across the Canary Islands, overall weather patterns include moderate alisio winds, with localized strong gusts in certain areas.
