The Cabildo Awarded the 2026 Excellence in Public Services Prize for the Canary Islands

The award, granted by the Government of the Canary Islands, recognises the commitment of the Island Corporation to continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in public service.

The Cabildo of Tenerife has been awarded the Prize for Excellence in Public Services of the Canary Islands 2026, in the category of Local Public Administrations, for its project “Citizen Services Charter,” as announced by the General Directorate of Modernisation and Quality of Services of the Government of the Canary Islands.

This recognition highlights the work undertaken by the Island Corporation to provide increasingly closer, efficient, accessible, and needs-oriented services for the public. It reinforces an organisational culture centred on quality, innovation, and ongoing improvement.

The official award ceremony took place yesterday (Friday) during the IV Innovamos Lab Canarias 2026 Forum, held at the Elder Museum of Science and Technology in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Acknowledgements from Officials

The President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, emphasised that this recognition “represents significant support for the daily work carried out by the Corporation’s professionals to provide quality public services that are close to and tailored to the needs of the citizens.”

Dávila further stated that “excellence in public management is not a goal, but a permanent commitment. This award motivates us to continue advancing in the modernisation of administration, simplifying procedures, and enhancing the services we offer to the people of Tenerife.”

Similarly, the Councillor for Citizen Services and Quality of Services, Candelaria Padrón, noted that “the Citizen Services Charter is a fundamental tool for ensuring transparency, quality, and accountability, as it establishes specific commitments with the public and mechanisms for continuous evaluation.”

Padrón added that “this award recognises the effort to place people at the centre of public action by promoting more accessible, agile, and effective service models that respond to the current demands of society.”

Additional Recognition

Additionally, the regional government awarded a special mention for quality best practices to “Cabi, the AI Platform of the Cabildo of Tenerife,” for its “commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in the attention and management of our citizens’ services.”

Launched in 2025, this resource provides Cabildo employees with a tool that utilises advanced AI models and specialised agents to address a variety of queries. Each of these agents centralises access to AI with a versatile and flexible platform, ensuring compliance with regulations and offering a unique point of access to various AI-supported services within the Cabildo.

This environment allows for the integration of new commercial AI models, open-source solutions, or even custom-built options for enhanced service precision.

The Cabildo of Tenerife expresses its gratitude to the Government of the Canary Islands for this distinction and views it as an encouragement to continue developing initiatives that enhance public trust in institutions and establish a modern, innovative administration focused on public service.
