Planeta Fest has commenced unveiling its programme even before officially opening its doors. As a preview of its inaugural edition, Satélite Teatro is conducting a series of performing arts workshops in Tenerife, aimed at users of specialised centres. The goal is to promote creativity, expression, and cultural participation.
Theatre as a Tool for Inclusion and Personal Development
The activities are being held throughout June in various locations across the island. The initial workshops took place from 15th to 17th June at the Naranjos de Luz centre in Tacoronte, while the programme will continue from 22nd to 24th June at the Los Verodes Occupational Centre in San Cristóbal de La Laguna. Each session is structured into three two-hour segments, designed for groups of up to twenty participants.
Theatre as a Tool for Inclusion and Personal Development
The workshops are based on dynamics related to movement, body and vocal expression, creativity, and group work. The process culminates in a small showcase created from the experiences shared during the sessions.
The initiative relies on the Theatre Brut methodology developed by Satélite Teatro, which focuses on the artistic and personal capabilities of each participant, using theatrical creation as a means to bolster self-esteem, autonomy, communication, and teamwork.
A Festival with Accessibility at Its Core
Accessibility will be one of the main elements of Planeta Fest, whose inaugural edition will take place from 26th to 28th June in San Cristóbal de La Laguna and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Planeta Fest, the Inclusive Performing Arts Festival / El Día
The organisation has designed specific measures for each activity and space. These include accessible pathways, materials in braille, orientation pictograms, support staff, and various sensory accessibility resources.
Additionally, each performance will have an information sheet detailing the accessibility features of the venue and the available supports to facilitate audience participation. Resources include sign language interpretation, audio description, easy-to-read materials, communication mediation, audio guides, and noise-cancelling headphones.
Planeta Fest will bring together local, national, and international artists and companies in a predominantly free programme. Highlights include inclusive circus performances, dance, theatre, and adapted music.
One of the festival’s key events will take place at the Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, featuring the performance De tú a tú by the Col·lectiu MUR. The festival is driven by Satélite Teatro and sponsored by Fundación DISA, with the support of various public institutions and entities linked to inclusion and social participation.
