The Council of La Laguna will launch a special operation with 60 workers and specific machinery to clean the route of this emblematic festival.
The Council of La Laguna, through the Municipal Services Area led by Fran Hernández, has reinforced the special cleaning operation and provision of public toilets in light of the Regional Pilgrimage of San Benito Abad, which will take place on Sunday 13th July. This operation, involving more than 60 workers, will ensure a clean, safe, and suitable environment along the entire route following the event.
The operation, which is activated in coordination with the 2025 Security and Cleaning Plan, includes prior cleaning and clearing work, the early placement of chemical toilets, and comprehensive cleaning of the route once the event concludes, around 16:00 hours on Sunday.
Fran Hernández, the Municipal Services Councillor, emphasised that “We have strengthened resources to ensure that a pilgrimage of this magnitude is carried out with the highest standards of hygiene and well-being for the public. Our commitment is clear: to respond to the reality of one of the most popular events in the municipality.”
To ensure the effectiveness of the operation, it will be supported by a wide range of mechanical resources, including pressure cleaning equipment, collection units, transport, and technical support, as well as specialised machinery for specific interventions, such as a mechanical shovel. This infrastructure will enable swift and thorough action in each phase of the operation, both in the preparatory work and in the final cleaning of the route.
The official route of the pilgrimage runs through Candelaria, Marqués de Celada, Herradores, Tabares de Cala, Obispo Rey Redondo, Adelantado, and Plaza de La Concepción, culminating at the church of San Benito. To accommodate the expected turnout, more than 20 chemical toilets will be installed at strategic points such as Juana la Blanca, Avenida de La Candelaria, and the surrounding area of La Concepción.
“The Pilgrimage of San Benito is one of our main hallmarks. Caring for its development also means caring for the image and well-being of our municipality. That is the objective of the operation we have designed,” added the Councillor.
