Candelaria starts building its new municipal auditorium with a capacity of 500 people.

The Candelaria Town Hall has started the construction of its Municipal Auditorium this week, which will have a capacity for 500 spectators.

The infrastructure is being built at the former bus station of the municipality through an investment of 8 million euros.

The works have a completion period of 24 months.

Firstly, it will be necessary to demolish the current infrastructure, located on the Rambla de los Menceyes.

According to a statement from the council, the demolition “will begin this very week.”

This new auditorium “is conceived as a multidisciplinary and modern space, designed to host a wide range of cultural and artistic activities, including music, theatre, dance, screenings, educational activities, concerts, and group rehearsals,” they inform.

Additionally, the building will include “essential complementary services such as dressing rooms, green rooms, and a rehearsal room, as well as a parking area with access from Crugiola Street.”

The main Auditorium will have a capacity for 500 spectators, a stage, and a performance area.

On the other hand, the music room consists of six instrument rooms, three music and movement classrooms, a library, a multipurpose room, a percussion room, and administration, they inform.

The work is 80% funded by the Cabildo of Tenerife and the remaining 20% by the Candelaria Town Hall.

The investment in this infrastructure amounts to 8,464,189.55 euros.

The Mayor, Mari Brito, considers this a “necessary infrastructure that has been requested by community groups and residents of the municipality.”

For his part, the Councillor for Culture, Manuel González, asserts that in the last 10 years, cultural activity in theatre, music, and dance has increased by 23%, without municipal spaces that exceed 150 people.
