MADRID 9 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces reported on Monday the deployment of several of its fighter jets due to the “intense air attack” by the Russian Army over western Ukraine in recent hours.
“Due to the intense air attack by Russia over Ukrainian territory, Polish and allied aircraft began operating in Polish airspace,” the Armed Forces announced, explaining that “these actions are preventive in nature” to “ensure security” near the borders.
“The pairs of fighter jets on duty were deployed and the ground air defence and radar reconnaissance systems reached the highest state of readiness,” Polish authorities highlighted on X.
A few hours later, the Armed Forces reported that these exceptional measures had ended without any violation of Polish airspace. “The deployed assets have returned to their usual operational activities,” they detailed.
This Monday, Ukrainian authorities reported a new record launch of drones by Russian forces, with nearly 480 of these devices intercepted, in addition to around twenty missiles.
