The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has inaugurated the new playground at Chimisay in the South Costa District. This engaging play area features a dinosaur theme and is part of Lot 1 of the children’s parks planned for the city, alongside El Mercado and Uncle Pino, both of which are already operational. The facility covers 1,500 square metres and has required an investment of 565,000 euros.
The park includes three primary modules laid on rubber surfaces: a dinosaur-shaped play structure with canopies for shade, a double metal slide, and a spinning carousel. Furthermore, enhancements have been made to the existing basketball court, including the removal of walls, structural support improvements, installation of new enclosures, paving, effective storm drainage, and perimeter painting.
An irrigation system has been added for the existing vegetation and three new trees. Additionally, the area’s lighting has been upgraded to utilise high-efficiency LED technology, supported by an investment of nearly 12,300 euros.
This new facility complements the recent openings of children’s parks at José Javier Pérez Pérez Square in the Health-La Salle district and in Plaza de la Iglesia del Pilar, thereby strengthening the network of recreational spaces available in the city.
