The council of Festivals of the La Laguna City Council will launch a new edition of the Christmas Square tomorrow, Friday. This leisure area will feature live musical performances, stalls, and a selection of food and beverages inspired by the festive season, alongside numerous activities suitable for all age groups, held in the central Plaza del Cristo.
The Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, emphasised that “this initiative has become a staple of La Laguna’s festive celebrations and an attraction for both residents of the municipality and visitors from other parts of the island, who come to savour the local cuisine and enjoy the extensive programme of performances spanning various musical genres.”
The Area Councillor, Dailos González, indicated that the Christmas Square will officially commence this Friday with a festive concert featuring Los Sabandeños, continuing until January 5. “On the main stage, we will host artists of considerable repute including Laritza Bacallao, Chago Melián, Shaila Dúrcal, Fran Baraja, Iván Quintana, as well as the groups Los Cantadores and Achamán, along with a substantial representation of Canarian orchestras to liven up the 31st,” he added.
This diverse cultural offering will be complemented by an ice rink, DJ sessions, culinary zones in the form of food trucks, and a dedicated children’s area featuring inflatable bouncers and play zones, among other attractions. Furthermore, there will be a specific market from January 2 to 4, showcasing artisans, pastry chefs, and various professionals from the island.
The only days when the Christmas Square will be closed to the public will be December 25 and January 1, both of which are holidays. The opening and closing times will be published on the social media platforms of the City Council and the Plaza de la Navidad in La Laguna.
