The American actor Henry Thomas, renowned for his portrayal of Elliot in the film ET the Extraterrestrial (1982) during his youth, is set to receive the honorary accolade at the Calavera Island fantasy film festival for his career on Saturday. This will take place during the closing gala held at the Leal Theatre in La Laguna.
This announcement was made by the event’s organisers on Wednesday during a press conference that included Thomas among its attendees, as well as Spanish voice actors Camilo García (the voice of Anthony Hopkins and Harrison Ford), Graciela Molina (voice of Natalie Portman and Kristen Dunst), Luis Posadas (voice of Leonardo Dicaprio and Johnny Depp), and Maife Gil (voice of Susan Sarandon).
Additionally, the American actor will engage in a discussion with the audience this Friday following the screening of Steven Spielberg’s classic at the Tenerife Multicines. This special event is one of the most eagerly anticipated activities in the programme and saw tickets sell out within minutes.
Another event will take place this Wednesday afternoon, featuring the invited dubbing actors participating in the performance “Las Manos de Orlac.” During this show, they will provide live voices for the silent film of the same name, thereby enhancing the visibility of the dubbing profession.
In the days ahead, actresses such as Andalusian María José Cantudo will also join the festival, where she will be honoured with the Legend of Fantastic award and will take part on Saturday, 16 November, in a gathering that will also feature Ángel Sala, director of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, alongside director Víctor Matellano.
To conclude, the festival will welcome the American actor Ron Perlman, famed for his role as the lead in the Hellboy films, directed by Guillermo del Toro. One of these films will be screened next Sunday, 17 November, followed by a meeting with the public.
