The Town Hall of Icod de Los Vinos, situated in Tenerife, has dismissed a falsehood that has been circulating on social media regarding a purported shooting within the municipality.
“Hoax alert. There are no shootings or attacks occurring in Icod de los Vinos,” the local authority has declared on its official social media profile.
“The Town Hall of Icod de los Vinos refutes the audio that has been shared on WhatsApp discussing shootings in the area. No incidents of violence have taken place, as confirmed by the State security forces,” the announcement emphasises, urging the public to refrain from disseminating audios “lacking context or official verification.”
In the audio in question, a woman’s voice warns listeners to avoid travelling to Icod due to a blue Audi “shooting at everyone” and claims that “many people are injured.”
