La Laguna will be celebrating International Youth Day this Saturday, following yesterday’s commemoration, with the event La Laguna Joven. The celebration will feature concerts by Canarian artists and over 40 activities spread across three locations in the municipality: El Polvorín de Taco, Las Mantecas Park, and Punta del Hidalgo.
During the event presentation, Sergio Eiroa, the Youth Councillor of La Laguna, emphasised the various activities that have been organised throughout the summer for the municipality’s youth. “We will conclude on a high note with this celebration,” he mentioned. The event, which is a collaboration between the City Council and supported by the Director General of Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands, Daniel Morales, and the Councillor for Youth of the Cabildo, Serafín Mesa, will involve participation from several councillors.
From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, attendees can enjoy a wide range of activities suitable for families at Las Mantecas, El Polvorín, and Punta del Hidalgo. The activities include XL games of parcheesi, dominoes, and goose, as well as scalextric tracks, trampolines, zumba, table tennis, retro gaming areas, driving simulators, virtual reality experiences, dancing, bicycle and pedal car circuits, table football, skateboard and BMX workshops, hockey, calisthenics, ping pong, inflatable climbing wall, and graffiti areas, among others.
Furthermore, a series of concerts will kick off at 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m., featuring performances by local Canarian artists who will rotate between the stages at these three locations in the municipality. This rotation is aimed at minimising travel and ensuring that all young people have the chance to witness these artists live. The lineup includes DJ Renzzo el Selector, the group Soul Sanet, Mel Ömana, Ledes Díaz, Kiddy, and the young DJ Neizan, who, at only ten years old, will also showcase their talent.
Wednesday with coffee
Additionally, the City Council, in coordination with the Economic and Social Forum of La Laguna and in partnership with the Youth and Cultural Association KAUA, is hosting the second edition of the youth event ‘Wednesday with coffee’ tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. This initiative aims to foster direct dialogue between young people and the local administration, encouraging open debate to understand the key demands of this demographic group for the enhancement of public policies.
