The Tenerife Island Council will implement various traffic diversions at the Padre Anchieta roundabout in La Laguna to set up the access ramps to the pedestrian walkway on Monday. However, the closures will commence this Friday to facilitate the crossing of the road installations.
The traffic disruptions will start tomorrow from 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, leading to a partial closure at the Padre Anchieta roundabout, affecting access to TF-24 and Calle Astrofísico Francisco Sánchez when approaching the roundabout from the north.
The Tenerife Council has advised that both routes can be accessed through the Lora and Tamayo junction or via TF-5 towards Santa Cruz.
During these days, four new modules will be transferred, corresponding to the connection ramp between Avenida de la Trinidad and the pedestrian ring road. These modules will be transported to the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Thursday and Sunday, ready to be placed at the roundabout on Monday, 5th August.
These structures, each 16 metres long and weighing 19 tonnes, will be positioned at the Padre Anchieta roundabout throughout Monday.
On the same day, 5th August, the installation and assembly of these four modules of the northern connection ramp of the pedestrian ring will begin, scheduled for four consecutive nights from 9:00 p.m. until Friday, 9th August at 6:00 a.m.
The Council has outlined that these works will necessitate the closure of Trinidad Avenue from the Padre Anchieta roundabout to Pedro Zerolo Street.
Motorists are urged to adhere to the directives provided by road personnel and signage, alongside taking necessary safety precautions.
The Council guarantees that these improvements in La Laguna municipality will enhance the mobility conditions for 50,000 vehicles and the safety of around 20,000 pedestrians who frequent the roundabout daily. This development will enable efficient connections between urban areas, universities, and the transport interchange of La Laguna.
The pedestrian ring road enhancements involve 11 metal pieces, each weighing 40 tonnes, and 3 connecting ramps (North, East, and South), representing an investment of 8.8 million euros.
The construction works, carried out by Obras Huarte Lain SA, entail assembling the 4 modules constituting the 125-metre long and 1.85-metre wide north ramp.
This ramp is supported by 7 square metal piles, which have already been installed.
