SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 11th May (EUROPA PRESS) –
Today, the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) announced Decree 50/2024, issued on 6th May, awarding the Collar of the Order of the Canary Islands to Astrid Pérez, the president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, alongside former presidents Antonio Castro, Gabriel Mato, Carolina Darias, and Gustavo Matos.
The Collar of the Order of the Canary Islands is the most prestigious honour granted by the Government, recognising the exceptional services provided to the Canary Islands and its people.
Astrid Pérez, the president of the Parliament, expressed her overwhelming gratitude upon being bestowed with this esteemed accolade from the Government of the Autonomous Community: “It is a tremendous honour to receive this recognition. As the parliamentary leader, I will wear this decoration with immense pride, symbolizing my unwavering dedication to serving the people of the Canary Islands and their well-being. I am truly grateful for this remarkable recognition.”
The formal ceremony for the presentation of these decorations is scheduled for Friday, 17th May at the Government Headquarters in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
In addition to the aforementioned recipients, the president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and former presidents Ángel Víctor Torres, Adán Martín (posthumously), and Paulino Rivero will also be honoured with this distinction, along with the president and former presidents of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) Juan Luis Lorenzo Bragado , Antonio Castro Feliciano, Jose Ramón Navarro Miranda, and Antonio Doreste Armas.
