Las Bajas Locals Restore Access to Sealed-off Area

In Las Bajas, residents rehabilitated yesterday the stretch of direct access to the village that the sea destroyed during the early hours of last Wednesday. To do this, they used a mechanical shovel that placed the stones and pebbles left by the tide on the path. The Local Police halted the operation as the attendees could not show the Coastal authorization they had, they claimed.

This action by the residents took place in a coastal area that has been evacuated and had restricted access since March 2021, as there were reports indicating the risk of collapse from the embankment above Las Bajas. A security project was carried out which remained unfinished after the municipal authority halted it due to the expenditure certifications exceeding the budget by at least one million Euros.
