SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18th April. (EUROPA PRESS) –
In the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a one-year prison sentence for a man who attempted to sexually assault a minor and resorted to insults upon discovering that she identified as ‘trans.’
According to the accusations compiled by Europa Press, the man aggressively approached the minor, who was with her mother near a supermarket, with the intention of touching her inappropriately.
When he realised that she was ‘trans,’ he proceeded to verbally abuse and demean her, using phrases such as “disgusting, I detest people like you, I’ll harm you” or “transvestite,” while trying to access her private areas amidst their struggle and the intervention of a bystander.
The incident left the minor distressed, anxious, and fearful, leading the Investigative Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to issue a restraining order against the accused.
The Prosecutor’s Office deems the actions as an attempted sexual assault on a minor under 16 years old, aggravated by homophobia, and also seeks a compensation of 1,000 euros for the victim’s mother.
The trial is scheduled to take place next Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
