The Cabildo de Tenerife has been honoured by the Demarcation of Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the College of Civil Engineers with the ‘Agustín de Betancourt’ award for the construction of Masca pier.
The project was initiated in 2018, followed by the tendering and awarding of the construction works. The works, which involved an investment of approximately €1.6 million, were carried out by the company Satocan and were completed in early 2023.
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, expresses her gratitude for the ‘Agustín de Betancourt’ award bestowed by the College of Civil Engineers as it recognises the type of engineering used in the project, its functionality and quality, the challenges faced during execution, the integration of the infrastructure in the environment, and the contribution of the project to improving the quality of life of society.
The Project

The Masca pier consists of a breakwater with 46 concrete blocks, a footbridge, and a boarding platform that can also be used as a heliport. This construction replaced the old pier in the area with the aim of enhancing people’s safety.

For the past decade, the Demarcation of Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the College of Civil Engineers has been organising the ‘Agustín de Betancourt Awards’, aimed at any civil engineer or institution who wishes to submit a proposal.
