He Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care (IASS) assures that it has guaranteed the supply and the availability of medicines and sanitary products in its socio-sanitary centers to meet the needs of residents.
According to a statement issued by the Cabildo de Tenerife, at no time has there been risk of shortage of medicines. The IASS Management has explained that in February of this year a temporary modification was made in the medication acquisition process.
Instead of having a pharmaceutical service that purchases them directly from the laboratories, a hospital drug warehouse was implemented, which purchases them from an external pharmacy, in accordance with the Canary Islands Pharmaceutical Management Law.
This change in the purchasing procedure has not affected the supply capacity of the hospital pharmacy at any time. The IASS plans the acquisition of medicines several months in advance to guarantee adequate care for all users of directly managed social and health centers.
Faced with the unfounded information disseminated, the IASS wishes to transmit a message of calm and assure the users of the centers and their families that the pharmaceutical service continues to be provided in a normal manner and without interruptions.
