SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 16th April. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Peinpal Advisory Committee has given the green light for the reinstatement of 75 new properties in Puerto Naos and 5 in La Bombilla, following a thorough analysis of CO2 data, showing a reading below 700 ppm. This now allows 634 families to return to their homes.
Sergio Rodríguez, the president of the Cabildo of La Palma, highlighted that with historical data now meeting Peinpal’s standards, approval has also been granted to progress in utilising seven commercial units in the Puerto Naos area, which includes the supermarket, the former pharmacy, and the two beach kiosks.
Emphasising that these decisions are supported by the scientific committee with utmost safety measures for the residents of the two neighbourhoods, designated areas have been confirmed as safe for reoccupation.
The collection of data from approximately 900 gas meters placed by the Palma institution in various locations in both neighbourhoods remains crucial in the decision-making process, ensuring optimal conditions for each household.
Sergio Rodríguez highlighted that the goal is to install 1,200 sensors. Furthermore, efforts are ongoing in measuring commercial properties and underground garages or street-level garages in the Los Lajones area to maintain continuous monitoring.
Presently, 261 families have completed the necessary protocols and can freely access their homes, with around 40 of them permanently residing in the region. Among other decisions taken by Peinpal, the camping area at the El Pilar Recreational Area has also been reopened, which was previously closed off.
