On Wednesday, Tenerife Council‘s Vice President and Advisor, Lope Afonso, expressed support for the development of the tourist urbanization project ‘Cradle of the Soul’ near Puertito de Adeje, provided that the project complies with all the necessary criteria.
During a press conference to announce the Government Council’s decisions, he endorsed “any investment that enhances the economic and employment prospects of the island, as long as it adheres to all legal requirements, including environmental standards.”
Afonso clarified that the Cabildo’s involvement in the project is limited to aspects related to the heritage, which have already been addressed.
Additionally, the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Islands Agency for the Protection of the Natural Environment (ACPMN), has supported the appeal made by the project’s Compensation Board. They have also dismissed the proposed sanction against the developer, amounting to 110,000 euros, and lifted the partial suspension of works.
