One of the country’s most important natural spaces is facing another illegality. It is the Teide National Park, where five people have crossed the boundaries that delimit the access areas. As the person who recorded the video, uploaded to the @marcediaz76 account, states, these individuals were inside the Teide crater at 7:54 in the morning when they decided to ignore the signs and, “without permission, without notice and without anything,” entered a protected area. According to sources consulted by EL DÍA, the Cabildo de Tenerife has opened an investigation to identify the perpetrators. The origin of these five people is unknown, and it is ruled out that they are National Park workers.
With four million annual visitors, the Teide National Park has many of its areas restricted. In addition, in the places where people can move around, certain rules must be followed as detailed on the website and various signs inside the Park. Teide imposes significant penalties: minor infractions are punished with fines of up to 3,000 euros; serious infractions from 3,001 to 150,000 euros; very serious infractions from 150,001 to 600,000 euros.
