The excitement for the final is palpable, and over time, the murgas finale has evolved into the ultimate competition night of the carnival, second only to the Queen’s gala. The fervent fans, easily distinguished by the color of their sweaters in the packed venue, are ecstatic from the get-go, and it’s no surprise: the murguera celebration has kicked off, and the night’s outcome remains anyone’s guess.
At around 8:45 p.m., the Grand Final commenced, once again hosted by the Carnival’s voice, Alexis Hernández, and Laura Fuentes, his steadfast companion backstage in recent years. The first notes of the Fufa filled the air, with the audience still seated in anticipation. The murga madre, as per tradition, took center stage as the opening act for the eight finalists. In their performance, they humorously addressed the canariones and touched on various current affairs.
