Santiago del Teide marked two milestones yesterday with the initial approval of the municipal budget for this year, with the votes of the government (PP) and the rejection of the opposition (CC) – the councilor of the PSOE–. The document is the largest in the history of this City Council (24,262,976 euros) and increases public investment by almost 440%, up to 6,610,657 euros, compared to the last year. Of these, 1,251,665 euros is the expense of own resources.
The increase in the budget for 2024 is close to seven million euros due to the inclusion of a subsidy of 6,619,932 euros in the Plan of Recovery, Transformation and Resilience“which will allow the transformation of the municipal tourism model towards sustainability,” according to the government group.

Emilio Navarro highlighted that the highest budget in the history of the municipality will contribute to its development “without an update of the tax burden on our neighbors, because in times of crisis it is not fair to increase taxes on the inhabitants of Santiago del Teide.”
To increase quality and improve services, Santiago del Teide Gestión SL (eA public company with 100% municipal capital) will assume the management of the Tamaimo gym, the cleaning of public centers and the accompaniment service for dependent people. At the same time, it will maintain the current services it has assumed, such as the municipal sports revitalization that brings sports closer to all population centers as well as the management of municipal sports facilities.
