How to paraglide in one of the best historic centers of Tenerife

It can be achieved thanks to an initiative of the La Orotava City Council which has been based on the placement of four images that create curious optical illusions about some of its emblematic spaces in the heart of the municipality.

With this initiative, the Consistory promotes its most important urban and natural corners and enlivens the streets of the historic center on special dates before Christmas. Orotavenses and tourists who walk through the streets of the town these days can get a photograph in their favorite place through four visual trompe l’oeil placed in different parts of the urban area.

The initiative that has just been launched, which is part of the Commerce and Tourism areas of the town council, will be developed for a month and aims to bring, in a curious and fun way, the knowledge of hidden corners and important places in the town, while promoting them.

Capture a photograph while simulating flying over paragliding the La Orotava Valley will be possible in the Obispo Benítez de Lugo avenuewhile achieving the best catch by rappelling in the arid and vertiginous Los Arcos ravine will be a reality in Calvary Street.

The route continues in the Patricio García square with an optical illusion of bell tower of the Church of La Concepción Towerand in the San Francisco street with a trompe l’oeil of the rock formation known as the Queen’s Shoe located in the Teide National Park.

These four optical illusions are made of vinyl and adhered to the floor. It is a pictorial technique that attempts to deceive the eye by playing with the architectural environment, perspective, shading and other optical effects of pretense, achieving an intensified reality.

The local institution encourages you to follow the instructions placed on each trompe l’oeil to get the most realistic photograph or use your imagination to achieve the most original capture, and then share the snapshots on social networks with the hashtag #orotavaillusionesopticas.
