Canary Islands is once again represented in the ranking of the best teachers in Spain. The Educa Abanca Awards Best Teacher 2023 They recognize eight island teachers among their finalists: Loida González Montenegro, Ricardo Acosta Alonso, Antonio Miguel Alcázar Hernández, Ruben Torres Galan, Nuria Ester Ángel Ramos, Tomás Santiago Vélez Santana, Peter De Jesus Villa and Juan Carlos Santamarta Cerezal.
He Merit Rating Committee has published this Wednesday, November 15, the list of the ten finalists in each of the six categories: Early Childhood Education, Primary, Secondary, Vocational training, Non-regulated education and University. On February 24, the names of the winners will be announced at a gala in A Coruña.
In all of the aforementioned categories there are representatives from the islands.
In Early Childhood Education it is Loida González Montenegroteacher of CEIP Lajares of Fuerteventura and she is a regular in these prestigious nominations.
Ricardo Acosta Alonso of the CEIP La Vega Icod de los Vinosin Tenerife, is the only representative of the Islands in the Primary Education category. This royal professor is no newbie to these awards either.
While in the category of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and Baccalaureate there are two representatives of Gran Canaria and Tenerife: First of all Ruben Torres Galan of the IES José Frugoni of Telde And in second place Antonio Miguel Alcázar Hernández of the IES Granadilla de Abona.

What are the Educa Abanca Awards?
These are the most prestigious teaching awards at the national level, popularly called “The Goya Education Awards.” A competition organized by the Educa platform and which has the collaboration of Afundación and framed in the annual World Education Congress.
