SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Minister of Finance of the Government of the Canary Islands, Matilde Asián, has denied this Thursday that the 2024 budget bill has included a “life annuity” for former regional presidents and reduces it to remuneration for advisory services.

In the debate on the presentation of the accounts in the parliamentary committee, he commented that the measure is linked to giving a “preponderant role” to the CES (Economic and Social Council) to undertake “administrative simplification” on the islands.

“It is remuneration in exchange for advice, it is voluntary, you can advise and receive it or not, and we believe that collecting that experience is interesting,” he noted.

The Government’s decision has been to create an advisory body within the CES itself to regulate this advisory function, which will be voluntary and will have an annual remuneration of around 71,000 euros in the absence of the regulation being developed.
