More than 1,000 people have arrived on the island irregularly so far this weekend

Maritime Rescue has intercepted in the central hours of this Sunday the four cayuco of Sunday in the Canary Islands with 53 sub-Saharan migrants in waters near El Hierro.
According to what the state agency reports to Europa Press, the Civil Guard notified around 2:20 p.m. of an echo on the radar 3.5 miles from La Restinga, and the Adhara sea rescuer went to the scene and escorted the boat to the dock, where they arrived. around 3:45 p.m.
This is the fourth cayuco to arrive at the islands so far this Sunday after early in the morning a precarious boat arrived under its own power at the La Restinga Dock with 81 people; another with 37 was rescued in waters near Gran Canaria; and a third was located with 59 people also in Gran Canaria.
During this weekend, and until 5:00 p.m. this Sunday (Canary time), the archipelago has recorded the arrival of more than 1,387 irregular migrants aboard some twelve precarious boats – 1,040 in El Hierro alone – including A cayuco with 320 people arrived this Saturday in La Restinga, which represents a historical record as it is the largest on record since the beginning of the ‘Canary route’ in 1994.
