The City Council of El Sauzal and the Cabildo of Tenerife They have launched this Friday the 2023 Crafts Fairwhich will be prolonged until September 17 and, this year, it will have a female presence of 85% and 21 artisanal modalities distributed in 30 exhibitors.
The exhibition has already been inaugurated in the Plaza del Príncipe of the northern municipality and can be visited from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The fair will host different activities, such as children’s workshops on pottery making, making quesadillas from Herreña and crafts with leaves and piteras, as well as exhibitions and musical performances.
The inauguration was attended by the island councilor of Employment and Education, Efraín Medina; the mayor of El Sauzal, Mariano Pérez; and the Councilor for Commerce, Animal Welfare and Equality, Vanesa de la Paz Rivero.
Medina has shown his intention to continue working together with the municipalities because, for the Cabildo, It is important to promote the marketing, quality and innovation of artisanal products.
In this sense, Efraín Medina added, the Cabildo has allocated a subsidy of 150,000 euros, which can be expanded by another 100,000 euros, in order to help the sector.
The Crafts Fair in El Sauzal 2023 has 30 exhibitors and 21 artisan modalities, and, according to the Cabildo, they have a female presence that reaches 85% of the participants.
Among the modalities offered to the public are patchwork, carpentry, ceramist, chandler, fabric decoration, crochet, jewelry, toy making, macramé, leather goods, modeling, dressmaker, doll making, traditional costumes and glass making, in addition to traditional pottery making. , embroidery, openwork, rosettes, stick basketry and weaving.
The Crafts Fair in El Sauzal 2023 is organized by the Cabildo through the Island Craft Company and has the collaboration of the El Sauzal City Council.
This fair has been held in the municipality since 2017, called “Put crafts on your table”, and this year it changes its name to cover a greater number of artisan trades and include a sample of innovative artisan items.
The exhibition hall located in the Plaza del Príncipe hosts the Crafts & Innovation exhibition starting this September 7, an initiative that aims to show the artisanal work carried out on the island and its adaptation to new trends.
